Complete the DTV application via Thai eVisa or at the Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate.
Cover letter identifying your category (Workcation / Soft Power / Medical / Dependent) and describing your planned activity.
Six months of bank statements showing the 500,000 THB equivalent balance maintained throughout the period.
Employment contract from foreign employer OR multiple freelance contracts with foreign clients.
Certificate of incorporation or business-registration document for the foreign employer or the applicant's own foreign business.
Letter from a Muay Thai camp, Thai cooking school, traditional-medicine institute, or other approved provider confirming enrollment.
Lease, hotel booking, or hosting attestation for your Thailand address.
Insurance covering medical, accident, and repatriation. Not always required but recommended.
Pay the DTV fee online via Thai eVisa or at the Royal Thai Embassy.
Submit the application — eVisa is the faster default; some consulates still accept paper.
Once approved, you receive the 5-year multi-entry DTV.
Immigration officer stamps a 180-day entry permit on each arrival.
If continuously in Thailand for 90+ days, file a 90-day report online or in person. 2,000 THB fine if missed.
Apply at Immigration Bureau for the one-time 180-day extension; 1,900 THB fee.
If you stay ≥180 days in any calendar year, you become a Thai tax resident. Foreign income remitted to Thailand is taxable per Revenue Department guidance (effective 1 Jan 2024). Plan remittances accordingly.
