Fill in your nationality, current country and travel dates so the rest of this checklist shows the right consulate and requirements.
Your passport must expire no less than 30 days after the date you intend to leave South Africa, per regulation 9(1)(a). Check you have blank pages for the visa label.
Recent colour photographs to the specification your South African mission publishes. Confirm the count and size with the mission handling your application, as these vary.
The DHA temporary residence visa application form, completed in full and signed. The remote work checklist lists this first among the required documents.
A written statement, or supporting documentation, setting out why you are coming and how long you intend to stay. The checklist asks for this as a distinct item from the employment contract.
A valid contract of employment signed by both you and the foreign-based employer. This is the document that establishes the work is for an employer outside South Africa, which is the core of the visa.
Bank statements covering three months, evidencing a gross salary of no less than the equivalent of R650,976.00 per annum. Note the DHA checklist prints R650,796.00 while the regulation itself says R650,976.00; budgeting to the higher figure avoids the question entirely.
A valid return air ticket, or proof of a reservation. A refundable or hold reservation is normally enough, but confirm with the mission before paying for a ticket you may not use.
Required if you travelled from, or intend to travel through, a yellow fever endemic area. It is not required where you were in direct transit through such an area.
Proof of payment of the applicable fee. The amount is set by the mission handling your application, so check the fee schedule for your country before paying.
If you are a tax resident in a country that has a double taxation agreement in force with South Africa under section 108(2) of the Income Tax Act, 1962, you must register with the South African Revenue Service once you have been in the country more than 183 days in aggregate over any 12 months. If you are not a tax resident in such a country, registration is required regardless.
